Our union values the contribution of retired members and their predecessors who pioneered this organization. The sacrifice and struggles of those union members to build a union to increase wages, benefits and working conditions for all carpenters is enjoyed by our present generation.
Whether by working together on the job, or long service in a worthy organization, the camaraderie developed is continued by on-going contact. Accordingly, the retired members of Local 1598 formed the first Retirees Club of Carpenters in Canada.
The Retirees Club members meet on the third Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m. — usually at the Pro Patria Legion (Upstairs), 411 Gorge Road East. Bring your wife, your companion and your good humour. Coffee and home-made goodies are enjoyed by all.
The 9 regular meetings are short casual affairs, leaving lots of time for socializing. The members enjoy excursions and a variety of other social functions throughout the year. The ladies (wives, etc.) also enthusiastically participate in all the activities which adds warmth and congeniality.
