How to Join

Carpenters Local 1598 represents carpenters, joiners, lathers (drywall/interior systems) and floorlayers employed in the private and public sectors.

Workers in these crafts and the broad and evolving jurisdiction of the United Brotherhood are encouraged to join our organization.

Representation in the workplace is essential if workers are to realize their fair share of the wealth they create. Today's workers are more productive than any who toiled before. If workers combine their efforts through organization, they increase their effectiveness when bargaining for better wages and conditions.

"There is no hope for us only in unity and organization…. Hence, we must form a union broad enough to embrace every carpenter and joiner in the land -- one that will protect every man in his labour and in his wages. Single handed we can accomplish nothing, but united there is no power of wrong we may not openly defy."

— Excerpt from the preamble to the Constitution of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America; August 12, 1881.

To begin to reap the benefits of "in unity there is strength" and to be part of the solution by working in solidarity with fellow workers, our Union encourages you to join us.

You can contact us by phone (250-383-8116) or fax (250-383-1603) or by visiting our offices at 210 - 2750 Quadra Street in Victoria, one block north of Hillside Avenue.
